Pearl Scan have been awarded a new Microfiche Scanning tender!
Stratford-on-Avon District Council (SDC) is in the process of implementing a comprehensive Transformation Programme across the organisation. This project aims to enhance service delivery for all council users by significantly increasing the availability of digitally enabled resources, consequently contributing to the streamlining of office operations.
As part of this transformation, SDC has identified the need to modernise its record-keeping practices. Microfiche have been used at SDC since 1948, with focus between 1974 and 2000. Currently, there are approximately 100,000 Planning and 60,000 Building Control microfiche jackets stored at the council offices.
To streamline information management and align with contemporary standards, SDC is actively seeking to transition all essential microfiche records into high-quality digital formats. This transition is crucial because it aims to facilitate efficient storage, retrieval, and management of information, aligning seamlessly with the organisation’s retention periods. The digitisation process will empower SDC to preserve historical records in a more accessible and modern manner, ensuring both the longevity and ease of use of this valuable information.
