Historical drawings stored on aperture cards are scanned and converted to high quality digital images of your choice such as TIFF, PDF or Jpeg.
We provide flexible national collection service via our dedicated drivers and couriers, ensuring security and safety of our client’s material.
Aperture cards are scanned using our specialist scanners which produce high quality and optimised digital images in PDF, TIFF and Jpeg formats.
Typically the digital files are indexed by the drawing number, title, issue no. revision no., etc. For large volumes, we can also supply a database/Excel spreadsheet for easy search & retrieval.
Once scanned and processed, the digital data can be transferred to our clients via our secure and encrypted FTP download portal, USB or an optical disc.
Specialist microfilm media scanners, coupled with advanced image capture and process technology are used to convert historical drawings held on aperture cards to high quality master digital images. Post-scan image processing can also be applied to further enhance and optimised scanned images, this include removal of block boards, cropping and de-skewing of images.
Once digitised an index of drawings can be created by capturing the required information either from the aperture card or the drawings e.g. drawing reference number, drawing title, issue number, etc. as well as this information can also be captured and extracted where cards contain Hollerith punch data.
