Xerox release new Documate scanner which scans documents 50 percent faster and is also ideal for ID card scanning
Date: 09/05/2008
On 5th May 2008 Xerox announced the release of Documate, a new colour feeding scanner that boasts a 50 percent faster rate than similarly priced competitive products. It is still small enough to fit on a desk, optimised for document and ID card scanning and scans around 76 images per minute.
Latest technology
The DocuMate 262i is ideal for desktop use in an office where scanning plastic ID cards, documents or business cards. A new patent-pending front-feed tray improves ID card scanning efficiency especially for government organisations while also reducing roller wear by up to 60 percent compared to similar scanners.
The scanner includes ultrasonic double-feed detection technology that alerts the user if any double feeding of material occurs while scanning. This technology prevents losing images and allows paper of different finish or thickness to be scanned quickly and reliably. It also boasts un-rivaled image quality, the latest optical character recognition (OCR) accuracy, auto-cropping, auto-exposure and wide-angle deskew.
Software compatibility
Along with the usual compatibilities Documate supports many applications such as Microsoft SharePoint, Hyland OnBase, Kofax Ascent Capture, EMC QuickScan Pro, has support for Microsoft Windows Vista and connects to devices such as printers and storage systems with just one touch.
The DocuMate scanner processes around 38 ppm / 76 ipm at 200 dpi monochrome and grayscale. It also has one of the smallest carbon footprints of any automatic document feed scanner on the market today. The useful 50-page capacity document feeder can handle any paper and photos from business cards up to legal-size documents.

The 262i is currently priced in the US at $1,195 and is already available there, a European release is expected shortly with a price of around £999. For a more detailed list of resellers, go to xeroxscanners.com
