New digital pen technology to speed up form submission now introduced in UK
Date: 16/06/2008
The digital pen solution produced by Ruby Digital has been snapped up by reseller RB Document solutions with a distributor agreement which covers the British Isles. The pen uses new techniques which re-invents the process of entering data into forms.
Pen strokes are captured using both a digital pen and paper forms which are covered with a dot-pattern water mark. This digital pen contains an infra red camera which can take up to 50 pictures per second during these pen strokes, these are recorded on to the paper and the data is then sent via Bluetooth connection using a mobile phone or USB cradle docking station.
The coordinates are then digitally re-built to produce a clear digital image of the handwritten form while the data is also extracted using numerous handwriting recognition software and ICR. It is a lower cost alternative to tablets and laptops and can provide a quick return on investment. This is very secure, simple to use and pretty much still pen and paper.
RB Document Solutions are delighted to be introducing the technology into the UK and Ireland and they believe it can be used to improve productivity and customer service for many different areas of the public and private sectors. Harry Burgess MD of the company said “The pens which are just like ordinary pens, are really easy to use and require very little training. There are many benefits including faster responses to customers, improved form completion and data quality, reliable audit trails and a reduction in the time and errors of manual data.”
Both companies are looking forward to a partnership to improve document management solutions in the U.K. and Ireland and they hope to provide more low cost, high efficiency paper based solutions for businesses and public sectors who don’t wish to alter their working methods drastically.
