New Plustek OpticBook 4600 Book Scanner to be launched
Date: 28/04/2008
Taiwanese electronic manufacturer Plustek is announcing their extension of professional scanners with their latest imaging device the OpticBook 4600 book scanner.
The OpticBook 4600 is aimed more towards company’s financial capabilities by making the scanner more affordable to those who would often scan journals and books. The scanner makes it extremely simple to scan and store any papers, books, journals, magazines and similar documents.
Plustek has installed a new lamp with their patented SEE (Shadow Elimination Element) technology for scanning books, which enables scanning of everything right to the outer edges. The outcome should be pages that appear with no shadows or sections cut off. The normal process of pressing down an open book to try and copy the whole page is no longer required as there is a special scanner holder included which as a result leaves any books in better condition.
The USB port included allows ease of file saving and portability. Anyone who uses OCR (optical character recognition) software to scan text for editing will also see fantastic results. The scanner also optimises space and energy use compared to a photocopier while including a feature that saves images in Searchable PDF format making it easier for document distribution.
OpticBook 4600 also works at a fast rate with a speed of 3.2 seconds per scan at a resolution of 300 dpi color and has a one-button system that can assign up to five different scanning functions.
Plustek products can be purchased from their e-store and is in full distribution with Ingram Micro and D&H. The announced launching date is May 6 and will be available from major electronic retailers with a price of around £560.
