Epson introduces high quality but cost effective workforce scanner

Epson recently introduced the Epson WorkForce GT-1500, this is the first in a line of WorkForce scanners which offers performance and value for money mainly aimed at small and home office environments. These environments usually require an economical, reliable solution for any scanning and archiving of business documentation. With flatbed measurements of 8.5" x 11.7", high resolution 1200dpi and 48-bit colour scanning it delivers good scan speeds using Epson’s energy-efficient ReadyScan LED technology. The scanner also features an automatic document feeder (ADF) and six customizable buttons for one-touch operation which will increase productivity when scanning high quality images.
Senior product manager Grace Huang believes the scanner delivers industry-leading performance and energy efficiency at an affordable price, making it the perfect solution for any office environment.
ReadyScan LED technology gets rid of the warm-up time that comes with most scanners and automatically turns itself off in standby mode, using less power. In addition, the ReadyScan LEDs are mercury-free allowing for fast scan speeds.
Users are able to scan up to 20 pages per minute (ppm) in monochrome and 12 ppm in colour at 200 dpi. In addition, the ADF can take documents from 5.9" x 5.9" up to 8.5" x 14" for range of document scanning sizes.
The colour enhancement feature enables users to select and improve any particular colour from the RGB colour channel while the dropout enables users to remove a colour from the RGB color channel. Epson Scan also allows users to create searchable PDFs with password protection.
Software compatibility and Connectivity
The Epson WorkForce GT-1500 features software applications including, ABBYY(r) FineReader(r) Sprint Plus OCR for creating editable text documents from scans, ScanSoft(r) PaperPort(r) for organizing and sharing documents and the EMC Captiva ISIS driver for interfacing with a variety of document management applications. The Epson WorkForce GT-1500 is pending certification with Kofax, an industry leader in business-critical information management. The Epson WorkForce GT-1500 features Hi-Speed USB 2.0 connectivity for fast data transmission, and is compatible with Windows(r) 2000 Professional, Windows XP, Windows Vista(r), and Macintosh(r) OS X 10.3.x to 10.5.
Availability
The WorkForce GT-1500 will be available for around £175.00 (estimated street price) through Epson authorised dealers, electronic outlets, office super stores, mail order, distribution, and on the Epson Web site www.epsonstore.com. This also comes with a one-year limited warranty.
