Photograph and slide scanning helping to bring old memories alive
Date: 04/06/2010
Most people will have old photographs stored away from past golden moments such as holidays, family snapshots, events and other memorable occasions and in some case people even hold hundreds of small 35mm slides from the old Kodak cameras. All of these images spend most of their time in an attic, cupboard or bookshelf. Here we look at how the public are now having these converted into electronic format for regular viewing on computer screens, DVD players, phones and large framed prints with the aid of photograph scanning and slide scanning.
Ever since the digital age took over the hard copy photograph has been slowly phased out as the majority of people will use digital cameras and keep their photographs on the computers. They are always backed up and can be viewed in a variety of formats depending on the user’s choice. But with historical photographs they are stored away and can be neglected and damaged over time, this also happened with 35mm slides especially when viewing them is a little trickier.
Pearl Scan Solutions have been working with many members of the general public to bring these memories alive again. With the aid of photograph and slide scanning they are scanned and output to a detailed electronic format just like today’s pictures, but that isn’t the end of it, as people find they want these photographs used more for viewing Pearl Scan have small and large batches scanned in and converted into a DVD movie for all of the family to watch.
By scanning photographs and slides into electronic format they can be manipulated and enhanced, then put into a slideshow movie format which can then be used on a DVD which anyone can put in their DVD player and with families and friends watch memories of their trip to Australia 20 years ago in one half an hour movie!
More and more people are jumping on-board to convert their old photographs and slides to electronic format to add alongside their digital pictures and create movies from. Pearl Scan recently helped a senior couple to have hundreds of their slides taken from their time in South Africa 40 years ago archived into viewable JPEG thumbnails along with a DVD home movie showing all of these for each of their sons and daughters. They can now have these electronic files printed in large format for framing, email them to friends and family or create a slideshow along with their other digital photographs.
