Drawing Scanning

What are the advantages of drawing scanning?
Drawing Scanning Scanning
The process of converting documents into images that can be manipulated
on a computer is the process of scanning large format
documents such as site plans, drawings, maps, diagrams and blue-prints then converting
them into digital
formatDigital format
These can be TIFF or JPEG, which are computer files used to store pictures
or graphics. We also use PDF (Portable Document Format) which are designed
for easy printing and sharing. such as TIFF
TIFF
A type of computer file used for storing pictures, these can be full
colour, greyscale or black and white. A multipage TIFF file can contain
many pages in a single file., PDF
PDF
PDF is a very popular multi page file format that is used by many companies
because it can be opened by almost anybody using free software that most people
already have on their computers. or JPEG
JPEG
JPEG is a single page image format that is most popular single image format, it is advised to use this format if you're
scanning colour images for presentation purposes..
The main advantage of scanning drawings or plans is to preserve ageing or single copy drawings in a secure electronic format from which they can then be easily accessed very quickly. Once these large paper drawings are scanned in they can be shared electronically between multiple staff afterwards and re-printed to any scale required from the high resolution scanned images. It always offers peace of mind to have your plans backed up electronically in case of any loss or damage to the original plans as well as being able to dispose of the original large format drawings if required.
Drawing Scanning - How does it work?
The drawing/plan scanning process is quite straight forward, before setting up the full scanning process, a small batch of your drawings are scanned and indexed and some sample images are then initially created for you. Once this sample is approved and you are satisfied with the sample output the full set of drawings are then scanned, converted and indexed exactly as you require.
If required we can apply image enhancements to old or poor quality drawings and plans in order to make them fully readable again. When the is drawing scanning and enhancement process is completed, each drawing image is inspected and compared against the original drawing to ensure the highest quality output is achieved.
The following are examples of some of the drawings and plans which are often scanned and archived:
- Engineering drawings
- Housing plans
- Local area maps
- Building/construction drawings
- Technical product drawings
- Railway plans
- Electrical circuit drawings
- Ordinance survey maps
If there are a large amount of drawings and plans of different size then we can use an indexing process to give unique references to each drawing for example, a drawing number, title, issue or date. Naming the scanned drawings in this way allows you to search for any required drawings by using multiple search terms, then staff are quickly able to find out exactly the document which they require.
You can search through the scanned files straight from the CD or DVD or have the contents copied to your office networkOffice Network
An office network is a collection of computers, sometimes connected to a server (computer that offers special services to other computers attached to it) to allow them to share resources. which enables the drawings to be shared electronically among numerous other relevant users in the office.
