.

The main advantage of scanning drawings is to preserve aged or rare drawings in a secure format from which they can be easily accessed. Once the paper drawings are scanned they can be shared between other users and printed to any scale required.

Drawing Scanning - How does it work?

The scanning process is relatively straight forward. Prior to setting up the whole scanning process a small batch of drawings are scanned and indexed and a sample CD is created. Once approved the drawings are scanned and indexed as specified by the client.

If required we apply image enhancement and processing treatments to aged or poor quality drawings in order to make them readable again. When the scanning and enhancement process is completed each drawing is inspected and compared with the original to ensure the quality.

The following are examples of some of the drawings which are usually scanned:

  • Engineering drawings
  • Housing plans
  • Building construction drawings
  • Railway plans
  • Electrical circuit drawings
  • Ordinance survey maps

If there are many drawings we use a process called indexing to give unique references to each drawing for example, a drawing number, title, drawing, issue or date. Naming the files like this allows the client to search for any required drawings by using multiple search terms and quickly find exactly what they want.

The client can search the files straight from the CD-ROM or DVD or have the contents copied to their office networkOffice Network
An Office Network is a collection of computers, sometimes connected to a server (computer that offers special services to other computers attached to it) to allow them to share resources.
to allow the files to be shared among many other users.
